New England Track and Field Clinic for Throwers: July 29-30, 2023

Are you an aspiring thrower looking to improve your skills and techniques in the sport of track & field? Then look no further than the New England Throws Clinic hosted by Field & Track Club, run by Craig Kinsley, the Associate Head Coach of Track and Field at Brown University and Sean Furey, former elite javelin thrower.

The second annual New England Throws Clinic will take place on July 29th and 30th at Conley Stadium in Providence, RI. Last year’s clinic was held at Brown University, but this year the event has been moved to Conley Stadium due to track renovations. The stadium boasts six throwing cages (including two brand new ones), two shot rings, and a javelin runway, making it the perfect location for throwers to hone their skills.

This year’s coaching staff includes a team of experienced coaches and elite athletes. Craig Kinsley, the Brown Throws Coach, 2012 Olympian, and NCAA Champion, will lead the clinic. Other coaches include Sean Furey, a two-time Olympian, three-time US Champion, and World Championships Finalist, Bryan Powlen, US Championships Discus Runner Up and 2x Olympic Trials Competitor, Lisa Wilson, 2x Olympic Trials Finalist in the hammer, Amanda Powlen, Central Connecticut State University Throws Coach and US Championships competitor, Wilfredo De Jesus Elias, Northeastern University Throws Coach, Puerto Rican Record Weight Throw Record Holder, and Pan-American Games competitor, and Brandon Amo, a Volunteer Assistant Throws Coach at Harvard. Current Brown throwers will also be on hand to assist, and additional coaches may be added as the clinic approaches and our numbers grow.
